This project is the combined effort of many who have followed God's prompting and donated their time and talents. It originated with the vision of two sisters, Kim King and Kindra Spears, who used their experiences in educating children to create a new approach to the Bible. Being concerned with the need for Biblical literacy among today's culture, we have sought to create a program that focuses on core Bible knowledge and puts the Bible into chronological and geographical context in an engaging way. We are blessed to have a family with a wide range of talents, who helped create this program. We have been amazed to see God bring the right people to make this happen.
The Music
Nothing helps the grammar of a subject (or core facts) stick better than music. The program includes music from our family bluegrass band (The King Family Band) who have traveled extensively and have members who have written and produced original music. Many of our songs were written and recorded by Caleb King and Eric Defend, with assistance from Nashville recording artist (Caleb Smith). Special thanks to the whimsical contributions of Rich Nelson, a pastor from Arkansas. Many family members and friends have contributed their music skills, giving the music variety in style and instrumentation. Creating music for all three cycles has been an amazing team effort. Our music was expertly mixed by our brother, Craig Carmichael, who has a talent for mixing and producing cds.
The Stories
We are so blessed that John Walsh and the folks from btstories.com have come alongside us and allowed us to use their Bible stories. This organization is dedicated to training everyday folks to use story telling to share the Christian faith. Through extensive online resources, storytelling material, and seminars, they have been able to use story telling to spread the gospel in places all over the world. Without their generous contribution of materials, this curriculum would not be possible.
The Workbooks and Website
In 1 Corinthians 12 we learn how we are one body with many members. We, the sisters, are not the part of the body that loves computer technology and graphic design. For that we have turned to our husbands, John Spears and Tim King and one of our daughters Naomi Bjerk. These are the people who love attention to detail and stay up to the wee hours of the morning making sure every line on every map is drawn accurately, the website is running smoothly, and the workbook is formatted correctly. Praise God for the many members!!
There are many others who have contributed to this project; but two in particular we want to recognize are our parents Wayne and Bev Carmichael. Their Godly example and encouragement have given us the confidence and tools to bring this project to completion.
Bible Telling by John Walsh
BibleTelling is a rebirth of an old method of teaching the Bible. In recent years, there has been a dramatic change in how we approach learning. People of this generation are as talented and intellectual as other generations, but they respond to a different type of teaching. Analytical logic no longer dominates teaching/learning, as it has in the past 100 years. Stories are now placed on a much higher level of importance. In fact, we now know that people receive a superior education if it includes listening and learning to tell stories.
A special thanks for permission to use Bible Stories by John Walsh from “All the Stories of the Bible” in the W3 Adventure Curriculum.
Rich Nelson Music
Kids' music is often endured by parents, not enjoyed. Rich Nelson tries to create catchy songs that teach Biblical truths in a fun and memorable fashion. His hope is that his music not only captivates kids, but makes their parents smile - not grimace. From rock to rap and classical to comical. Rich desires to have music draw families closer to each other and closer to the Lord.
A special thanks to Rich Nelson Music for allowing us to use his Twelve Tribes song in the W3 Adventure Cycle 1 CD.
